United Way Honors Volunteers & Supporters at 2011 Annual Meeting & Campaign Celebration

On Thursday, April 7th nearly 350 community leaders gathered for the United Way of Tri-County's 79th Annual Meeting & Campaign Celebration!
Paul Mina, President, gave an update on the impact United Way has had on the needs of the community. Despite the troubling economy and growing needs of MetroWest families, United Way dollars have had a significant impact in the areas of Basic Needs, Education, Health, and Financial Stability. In 2010 the United Way of Tri-County invested over $3.1 million in our community.

Strengthening Youth in a United Way
Strengthening Youth in a United Way (SYUW) is a direct service program of United Way that partners with the Framingham Public Schools and community stakeholders to promote healthy adolescent behaviors, reduce teen pregnancy, and develop strategies for a successful life.
The staff of SYUW are hard at work daily, conducting one-on-one sessions with at-risk adolescents, hosting group sessions with middle school girls to help them focus on their futures, working with adults in the community to ensure that they know the role they play in shaping the future of our youth, and providing many other essential services to those that need it most.
Read on to learn how SYUW touched the life of one girl with their wrap-around approach to engaging youth in healthy behaviors. |

| ECM Campaign Tip:
Most campaigns are months away, making it a good time to do a thoughtful review with your account manager about what worked, and what didn't in your last campaign. Schedule a meeting now to do a thorough review to help you plan for your next campaign. |

Leaving a Legacy:
If you support United Way now, have you considered how you might help support future needs? Making a planned gift is one of the best ways to support United Way. Planned gifts allow donors to make a significant impact on those in need over an extended period of time while taking advantage of many benefits, which may:
- Reduce your taxes
- Increase your income
- Conserve your family's wealth
- Fulfill your charitable goals
- Be designed to reflect your particular interests
We will be pleased to work with you and your advisors to develop a planned gift that best suits your particular needs.

Backpack Program | |
The United Way of Tri-County announces that we will once again be running our annual back-to-school backpack program!
We are committed to helping children and youth succeed and thrive going to school ready to learn.
It's easy to get involved. You can either purchase school supplies/backpacks for the program yourself, or, for $25, we can provide a student with their own backpack and supplies on your behalf so they are ready to go back to school.
You can also help by volunteering to sort and assemble backpacks. To find out more about this exciting program, please contact:
