Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!  We are pleased to share with you a look back at 2010 - approximately 350 wonderful animals were helped thanks to your support.  Here are some additional highlights of what you have helped us accomplish:

 

  • Over 350 animals helped; more than 100 were reclaimed by their owner
  • New partnership with Norwell Veterinary Hospital  Read more
  • Over 25 Seniors assisted by HELP Program
  • Education Outreach to over 700 elementary students in '09-'10 school year
  • Built new outdoor exercise areas for shelter dogs; outdoor enclosure for feral cats
  • Provided emergency shelter for blizzard evacuees' pets (December)

    Animal News

    • HOORAY for Charles the hound!  Charles, who crafted the "letter to Santa" in our holiday email, has been adopted!  After many months of patiently waiting, Charles became a member of his new family right before Christmas.  What could be better than a home for the holidays?    
    • Available for adoption right now are some wonderful pets including playful cats, lovable dogs and an adorable, gentle pair of lop-ear bunnies named Dolly and EmmyLou.  All are waiting for a good home.  Meet them and others at Petfinder.com or visit us during open hours (below) for the most current information.   
    • Featured Adoptable Animal: Mittens 2, a young female domestic shorthaired cat.  Mittens was surrendered to the Shelter by her saddened owner who was moving to a new apartment that didn't allow Mittens to come along.  Meet affectionate Mittens 
    Coming Events
    • DON'T MISS WinterFest Beer & WIne Tasting - February 12 Just 2 weeks away - a fun-filled evening at beautiful Hatherly Country Club featuring a selection of wines and seasonal beers, gourmet food pairings, and live and silent auction.  Tickets just $50 per person and are available at the Shelter and through secure online ticket purchase.  ps- Which well-loved regional magazine may be there for event photographs?  Join us and find out!
    • March - St. Patrick's Day Parade Be on the lookout for the Pet of the Parade contest.  Details on how to enter YOUR PET will be available soon.  Sponsored by the Parade Committee; the Shelter will receive part of the proceeds from this new event.
    • April 9 & 10: HUGE Yard Sale- one of the area's largest!  Consider donating your Spring cleaning treasures* to benefit homeless animals.  Items can be dropped off at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Scituate, as early as March 26th.  *Get the full scoop here 
    • May 27: Save the date for the 8th Annual Golf Tournament and Dinner  Details and registration information coming soon.

    • Share your Happy tails!  Have you adopted a"SASsy" (Scituate Animal Shelter) pet?  We would love to hear from you!  Tell us about your SASsy adopted pet in approx. 100 words or less by sending us an email .  Please include your full name and town, and be sure to let us know if it would be OK to share your story on our website (see online examples).
