Scituate Animal Shelter E-News
Special Update - January 2, 2011

Friends and supporters are often interested in knowing the many ways in which the Scituate Animal Shelter supports our community.  Last weekend, as reported on local and national news, the blizzard left many areas in the community without electrical power, heat, and cable/phone/internet service.  Unfortunately, a few local families lost everything in homes that were flooded or destroyed by fires.

During this crisis, the Shelter was able to provide temporary housing for family pets - 6 dogs and a cat - that were displaced from their homes.  3 dogs and the cat are still with us as of January 1.  Additionally, the Shelter is providing pet supplies and support to folks evacuated because of the storm - while supplies last, by appointment - please call Kim at 781-544-4533.

We are grateful to the Police and Fire Departments for their courage and determination to protect residents' lives along with their companion animals.  We are also thankful to our dedicated volunteers who are available to help in a minute's notice.

Thank you for your support, which allows the Scituate Animal Shelter to provide homeless pets with a second chance for a good life AND ALSO help our community in a time of need.
