Scituate Animal Shelter E-News
Dear Friends,
Have you ever had the feeling that the more you do, the more there is to be done? We have! Fall is here and we are busier than ever. The Shelter is full of wonderful animals waiting for their forever homes. So full, in fact, that it has been quite a task to keep up with all the demands on our services including animal care. Adoptions are up 40% versus the same period last year which also means costs have increased as we care for more animals... and there are many more animals in need.
Adopted animals have a special way of enriching peoples' lives, and we thank everyone who has applied for and adopted pets from the Shelter. We are honored to be able to improve many animals' lives - one adoption at a time. For every animal that is adopted through our Shelter, another dog kennel or cat condo becomes available and another life can be saved.
As you may know, the Shelter continues to operate thanks to donations from caring folks like you. Without the Scituate Animal Shelter, we wonder... where would these pets go? What would become of them? Your donations are more important than ever. As always, thank you for your support.

Animal News - HOORAY for puppies Faith, Hope, Charity, Lovey and Chance, five adorable lab mix puppies which we featured in the last e-newsletter. Each pup was adopted to loving homes with folks who are fully committed to raising a puppy. Congratulations to the proud new owners! We wish them much happiness together.
- Available for adoption right now are some wonderful pets including sweet cats, playful kittens, and dogs - young and older - that will steal your heart! You may also want to meet our blind bunny, Thumper or the four tiny, singing finches. All are waiting for a good home. See our adoptable animals at Petfinder.com or visit us during open hours (below) for the most current information.
- Featured Adoptable Animals: We currently have 18 healthy cats over the age of 6 months - all waiting for a good indoor home. "Adult" cats make great companions and can live into their 20's! They give so much and ask so little. If you are thinking about adding a cat to your household, please consider adopting an adult cat.
- See Remi play in Shelter's NEW play yard for dogs! Don't miss this video (1 minute long)! Play yard made possible by a donation from a long-time friend of the Shelter. Thank you!

Did You Know
- Halloween can be scary for pets too. Masks and costumes can cause animals to behave differently toward people they are otherwise familiar with. Consider giving your pets a quiet space away from trick-or-treating festivities to keep everyone safe and happy, and be sure to keep them indoors on Halloween. Remember, pets should NEVER eat candy!
- Dog Boarding is no longer a service provided by the Shelter. By not having to reserve kennels, we are able to house and help more homeless dogs. We thank you for your understanding as we continue to focus on our mission.
- 'Tis the season to FALL for a homeless pet! October is ASPCA's Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog month. Is there room in your heart & home???
