THE PREZ SAYS...Let's Talk ADDY Post-Game Analysis
On Saturday, March 5, AAF Metro Phoenix pulled out all the stops at the 26th annual ADDY® Awards. This is the one night of the year that we all get together to celebrate big ideas, huge talent, leaping imagination and brilliant executions.
This year, 467 total entries were received from 38 participating firms around the Valley. Our congratulations go to all of this year's winners who shared 31 Gold, 46 Silver and 39 Bronze ADDY awards.
MVP special award winners include: Best of Show: HAPI; Art Director of the Year: Ben Dveirin; Copywriter of the Year: Megan Stark; Photographer of the Year: Mark Laverman of Mark Laverman Photography; Creative Director of the Year: Bob Case, The Lavidge Company; and, Ad Person of the Year: DD Kullman, Copy that Clicks.
Our friends at mediafarm did an outstanding job producing the introductory video for the ADDY Gala, check it out here. And if you'd like to see how mediafarm can help your business or support your client needs, check them out at www.mediafarm.tv.
We applaud the 100+ member volunteers for your dedication in making the ADDY Gala such a successful celebration for the winners. Without you, none of this would have been possible. Thanks to Bob Rue and Mark Trombino for providing voice talent for the audio spots and serving as event MC's. And a very special thanks to our dedicated ADDY co-chairs: Matt Wilson, knoodle and Mike Rodgers, Defero USA.
Our friends at Cox Media donated an Xbox 360 250 GB Console, including Kinect Sensor and Kinect Motionsports game, to the ADDY raffle; a prized valued at $420! And congratulations to Stephanie Riley at ReThinc Advertising who won both double-shot arcade basketball games in the ADDY raffle - valued at $265 each!
Feedback for this year's Gala event has been overwhelmingly positive. We've also received some very constructive feedback about how to make the event better next year so that the ad club can meet and exceed your expectations. So while the excitement of the ADDY Gala experience is fresh in your mind, I'd like to invite you to take a minute to provide feedback via this short survey.

National Contest Helps Florida Fight Misperceptions About Oil
American Advertising Federation & SecurityPoint Media Announce "Champion a Cause" Creative Challenge Winner
The only trace of oil on Florida's coastline comes from a Hawaiian Tropic bottle, but the perception is quite the contrary. For weeks, organizations such as Visit Florida have been searching for new ways to reach consumers nationally with the message that the shores are clean. Now, with the help of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), Florida-based company SecurityPoint Media is doing just that.
As the innovator of airport security checkpoint advertising, SecurityPoint Media has the ability to engage with an elusive but highly coveted group of consumers: frequent fliers. This audience includes early-adopters and trendsetters with a heavy influence among their peers. Together with the American Advertising Federation, SecurityPoint Media is sponsoring a national ad campaign to raise awareness and leave a lasting impression on texting adults.
Your challenge is to design a SecureTray® advertising campaign that speaks to adults who text and drive. The winning design(s) will be featured in airport security checkpoints across the nation. First place: $1,000 cash prize and artwork featured in airports nationwide.
The contest is open to all AAF corporate members, members of Ad2 clubs and AAF collegiate chapter members. The submission deadline is Friday, April 15, 2011. More information.
