Greetings!
THE PREZ SAYS... This is not my ad club!
AAF Metro Phoenix is not my ad club - it's yours. And it's ours. And it will take all of us working together to create a sense of community and make the club into something meaningful to your advertising-related business. The Valley is home to hundreds of advertising and marketing companies, media companies, digital companies, photographers, printers, suppliers, freelancers and clients. Imagine the possibilities if we all got together to engage in our profession, our network and our community to build a strong club that you'll be proud to be affiliated with.
If you're an advertising industry professional, the ad club should be important to your business. Become a member. Get engaged. Volunteer just one hour of your time. And shape the club into an organization that benefits you and the advertising community. This is YOUR ad club - get engaged. I've heard from a few folks that the ad club is not what you'd like it to be. I share your concerns and the Board of Directors and I are dedicated to reinvigorating the club to build a better advertising community. So here's your chance to let your voice be heard. Take our online member survey to share your thoughts about what this club should be and how you'd like to be involved. Join the President's Round Table series to discuss important issues how the ad club can improve its programs to deliver what you need. Or contact our Executive Director to learn more: execdirector@aafmetrophoenix.com.
So what's holding you back? Go to www.aafmetrophoenix.com and join today. Read more
Cheers to your success, Pamela Loughman, AAFMP President

National AAF Government News

Program gives Consumers Control over Collection of Web Viewing Data AAF and a group of the nation's largest media and marketing trade associations, with support from the Council of Better Business Bureaus, has announced details of a self-regulatory program that will give consumers enhanced control over the collection and use of data regarding their Web viewing for online behavioral advertising purposes.
The Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising represents the industry's response to the Federal Trade Commission's call for more robust and effective self-regulation of online behavioral advertising practices that would foster transparency, knowledge and choice for consumers. AAF Oct 4 Press Release.
FCC OK's Use of White Space The Federal Communications Commission voted unanimously to approve the use of idle TV spectrum known as "white spaces" for wireless broadband applications. The order eliminated a requirement that devices that check-in with a geo-location database include sensing technology to ensure they will not interfere with television stations and other spectrum license holders. Complete story.
FTC Environmental Guides The Federal Trade Commission has released proposed changes to the "Green Guides" that give marketers guidance when making environmental claims. The Guides, which were first issues in 1992, have not been updated since 1998. While they do not have the force of law, they do give insight as to the standards the agency will use when taking enforcement actions. More information

Just ask the Arizona Humane Society (AZHS), whose goal was to increase community awareness for animal adoption and low-cost spayed and neutering services. AZHS kicked off their campaign in mid-August and are now enjoying a measurable return on investment. Do you know of a non-profit organization that could benefit from the program? AAFMP is now accepting applications for Spring 2011. To schedule an introductory meeting, please contact call 602-218-5052 or email execdirector@aafmetrophoenix.com. |
