Discover the Essentials of Practicing Ashtanga Yoga

5 week series starting July 12th, 2010
Session I: From the first inhale to the last exhale: Find out what gives life to the practice, our breath! When applied to the series, "ujjayi" breath is our bodies fuel, creating internal heat and keeping us safe from injury!
Session II: The Standing Sequence: Dissect the standing asanas by focusing on the principals of twisting, binding and wrapping. Paying special attention to the importance of oppositional forces, alignment, and balance.
Session III: Explore the elusive and mysterious components to the "jump-through" and "jump-back". The Vinyasa works in conjunction with the breath to balance out the body between postures. We will make controlled transitions from asana to asana attainable for everyone.
Session IV: Back bends keep the spine healthy and flexible. Explore the idea that this asana is as much a forward lengthener as it is a backward bend.
Session V: Ashtanga Yoga is . . . In fact the physical practice of asanas is the third limb out of eight. Recap everything we have learned with plenty of time for open discussion.
Beginner Series Package $100: includes one additional Led Class, Tues or Thusday at 7pm or Friday at 9 am . . . your choice. |
