Thank you also to everyone who has donated time, money and goods to the Foundation during 2009. We really appreciate everything that we get - every penny helps us to do the work we have committed to, every volunteer hour enhances our programs. We can hardly wait to get the container to Zambia and see the reaction of the community as we unload and share all the items that have been donated for the needy !
Like many other charities our funding is down this year due to the economic situation but we continue to have success in the development of the organization. Some highlights from the year include :
- Young Lions Media project - the launch of a Community Art Studio program in Stony Plain and Spruce Grove and the expansion of our Teen Media program including two film festivals
- The successful integration of the Coordinated Suicide Prevention Program into the SPF organization and the resumption of the delivery of the program in the Parkland community. The completion of a very powerful Survivors of Suicide documentary in support of CSPP
- A partnership agreement with the Stony Plain Lighthouse Church to help them continue to support Kanjanji Village, an orphanage project they began in Zambia in 2006
- An alliance with Every Orphan's Hope, a US-based charity that works in Zambia, which will enable us to co-operate on fundraising in Canada and the USA and project work in Zambia
- The designation of SPF as a registered charity in England and Wales with a significant donation already pledged from another charity there for our Zambia project
- A letter of support from the Rotary Club of Kabwe, the closest city to our project in Zambia, which will enable us to co-operate with the Rotary organization worldwide in carrying out selected, approved projects in our Zambian community
Please continue to support us in whatever way you can during the coming year and do not hesitate to contact us for more details on anything you are unsure of.
Kind regards, Gordon
