    YOUTH CORNER
    Internet Safety

Young Canadians are definitely taking a lead when it comes to using the internet and online social networks.

It is important for us to be aware of the dangers on the internet and the precautions we can take in order to protect ourselves and our privacy. Here are a few simple steps you can take to protect your privacy:

    • Do not open attachments or e-mails from people you do not know
    • Make sure you have a good anti virus software and a secure internet connection
    • When using social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter be careful with what you share and ask yourself: Do I really want everyone knowing this? Always think that your employers, parents, and teachers can also see your profiles
    •  Have different passwords for internet banking and a different password for online social networks

To find out more information on privacy issues or on how to file a privacy complaint please connect with one of our Youth Information Counsellors via e-mail at nicyouth@tcet.com
