"I have always argued that change becomes stressful and overwhelming only when you've lost any sense of the constancy of your life. You need firm ground to stand on. From there, you can deal with that change."

Employment Services: New Model at the Centre for Education & Training
As of August 1, 2010, Employment Services in Ontario transformed into the new Employment Ontario model. This model is designed to assist not only job seekers with their job search, but also employers with their business needs and the community in general with relevant resources. The aim of this new model is to provide a "one-stop shop" with assistance in finding services that are best suited as per the needs identified and the Labour Market trends.
This program is designed to help Ontarians to gain the right training, skills, and employment experience needed to achieve goals. These services will connect people looking for work with employers looking for workers. Every month there is a calendar of employment related workshops, which clients can register to attend. In addition, staff is available to meet with clients on a one-on-one basis to provide support and guidance with job search and employment related needs. This may include assistance with preparing resumes, providing tips for a successful job interview, and/or developing networking skills. Staff can assist with assessing skills and experience and providing guidance in career planning, training, finding work or starting a new business. New job postings are continuously added and updated and information is available on current trends in the local job market. Guidance is provided in helping find short term training opportunities, such as starting a new career with the Second Career program, which can assist with building skills one needs to return to work.
At the Centre for Education & Training, services are available Monday through Friday, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. All services are free of cost and served on a 'first come, first served' basis. Call (905) 949-0049 or contact nic@tcet.com for more information. |
