Don't say "yes" if you want to say "no". Don't say "maybe" if you want to say "never". You can't hurt people with your decisions. We always want to please, but at the end we are hurting ourselves; it took me a lot of time to learn how to say "no", but I finally managed. ~Paulo Coelho | |

WORTH MENTIONING
Are you searching for a good job? Searching for a good job is quite often at the very top of the list for most newcomers. In fact, some of the most popular questions NIC counsellors receive are about employment. Looking for a job can become extremely frustrating for a newcomer, not only because of the recession, but also because they are in a new country.
Some of you may also have responsibilities at home such as young children, that prevent you from stepping out of the house for a very long time. For situations like this, you can access the online employment centre called 'Possibilities,' funded by 'Employment Ontario.' It consists of an excellent collection of resources for the average job seeker, with a special section of the site devoted just for newcomers!
The 'Newcomer Possibilities' section contains everything from resume-building and interview-preparation tips to information about specific professions and trades. It even has links to discussion forums where you can chat with other newcomers and post any questions you may have. All of this valuable information is absolutely free and can be acquired simply by creating an account for yourself on the site www.poss.ca!
Making an account allows you to access parts of the site which contains even more valuable information, such as the type of Canadian experience you may need for different jobs, career profiles and articles, links to job boards, an employment events calendar, and the chance to speak to an employment counsellor.
This is definitely a website every job seeking newcomer should know about, because it is accurate, detailed and consists of an exhaustive list of employment resources you will surely benefit from. Click www.poss.ca to experience it yourself. For any assistance contact a counsellor at nic@tcet.com |
