There are two things to aim at in life; first to get what you want, and after that to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind has achieved the second.

Bridging programs - Can they bridge the gap for you?

Lift or elevator...

Brinjal or Eggplant...

Do you speak good English, have a degree that is equivalent to Canadian education, and have lots of work experience, but are yet to find a job in your field?

Do you know that employers consistently identify communications skills (primarily speaking) as one of the major barriers to hiring skilled immigrants? (Brampton Board of Trade's report 2007)

Do you know 87% of companies insist that candidates should have a "high level of proficiency" in language, and not just ESL training but a comprehension level that meets the need for meaningful communication in their professional field?

The question you might have is how can I develop sector-specific language.

The answer is Bridging and Enhanced Language Training (ELT) programs offered by the Government, mostly free of charge or for a nominal fee.

These programs help you learn the language for your profession or trade desired by the employers and help you come closer to finding your dream job.

You may be an architect, an accountant or a hairstylist there is a program for you.  There are programs for over 30 different professions.

Designed specifically for the internationally trained professionals, bridging programs and ELT programs may provide you with:
·    Sector-specific language training
·    An assessment of your education and skills
·    A workplace experience
·    Skills training or targeted academic training
     programs
·    Preparation for a license or certification
     examination
·    Contacts with employers
