Build Executive Team Effectiveness to Speed Up Results
|
|
The only way to get great results is to start with a high performing executive team. And if your results aren't coming fast enough, focusing on building that top team could be the solution.
First, as a CEO, you should commit to spending quality time with each direct report -- 30 minutes a week, either in person or by phone will do the trick. Your goal should be to set your team up for success, one person at a time, and to remove any barriers or obstacles to goals.
Begin to lead one-hour weekly executive team meetings, again by phone if necessary. These meetings will have several results.
First, they will build trust within the team and in you by giving you the opportunity to be candid.
Second, you'll have the chance to get to know each other better by sharing key issues and challenges each week.
Third, the meetings will help bust the silos and encourage team members to ask each other for assistance. Instead of finger-pointing, you'll see healthy conflict in meetings that will allow the group to solve key issues and challenges together as a team.
Best of all, the meetings will offer the team time to reflect and celebrate success, building confidence for future challenges.
