You don't have to be a workaholic.

To the rest of the world, you may seem a great success, but for some CEOs, it's anything but.

It's not uncommon to be at the top of your game professionally while at the same time the rest of your life is out of control.

To feel fulfilled and happy in life, six human needs must be met. They are: love and connection, learning and growth, certainty, variety, contribution, and significance. Are you using your work to meet all these needs? If you are, you are a classic workaholic.

Unless you take charge of these needs outside of work, you will likely face serious personal, financial and/or physical consequences.

Make sure you have goals in all areas of your life: career, money, partner, friends and family, health, personal growth, physical environment and fun and hobbies. If you feel as though your life is getting away from you, create a 90-day action plan to achieve greater satisfaction in three key areas.

By applying the same level of focus to your entire life, and not just work, you will feel more settled and in control.
