QUICK LINKS
Greetings!

Well, I started my Official Visits this month, and I agree with all those PDG's who say the best job of a District Governor is visiting the clubs!

Since 40% of our Rotarians have been in Rotary less than three years, my talk is on the big picture of Rotary, the Business of Rotary International.  Please encourage your newer members and any prospective members to join us when I visit your club.

Calling all Rotarians with 50 years of Perfect Attendance
Please let me know it you have a Rotarian in your club with 50 years of perfect attendance.  So far, I only know of one, a member of the East Salem Rotary Club.  Once we have a complete list, we'll celebrate the dedication of these wonderful Rotarians. Thanks!

GSE TEAM NORWAY SELECTED

Arecord number of 31 young professionals applied this year for the Group Study Exchange (GSE) to Norway.

The applicants were so well-qualified, we had a hard time narrowing the field and selecting six.  Eventually, the team will be divided into 4 traveling team members and 2 alternates.  The professions of the team members include: a recylcing specialist, a wildlife biologist, a cardiac nurse, a wheat and hops farmer, a transportation planner and a youth program manager.

Our team leader this year is Assistant Governor Kathy Stromvig (Southeast Portland RC) and alternate team leader is President-Elect Eric Reise (Hermiston RC).

MESSAGE TO PRESIDENTS FROM RI SECRETARY GENERAL ED FUTA
The 2007 Council on Legislation adopted resolution 07-187 asking the RI Board to consider providing internet software and platforms for use by clubs.  The RI Board endorsed this concept and requested the general secretary to follow through in providing this type of service to Rotary clubs.

Accordingly, Ed Futa announced this week a new partnership between Rotary International and Citrix Online. Through this partnership, RI is giving members access to exclusive offers on the simplest and most cost-effective tools for conducting online meetings.

Clubs and Rotarians are all eligible for a 60-day free trial and 15 percent discount on Citrix GoToMeeting and Citrix GoToWebinar.   For the full message click here.
