Quick Links

Greetings!

The "Service above Self" award is Rotary's highest honor for individual Rotarians.   This award recognizes up to 150 Rotarians annually who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service, with an emphasis on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through Rotary.

If you have a member in your club that you feel qualifies for this award, please contact DG Kristi at [email protected] prior to August 1st.

Remember, all club Presidents can recognize one club member for his or her outstanding efforts with a "Four Avenues of Service Citation".  A club member must have demonstrated support of the Object of Rotary through active participation in each of the Four Avenues of Service: Club, Vocational, Community, and International.   [You must be an active Rotarian and can only receive the award once.]
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION:  Recruiting for GSE Team Members to NORWAY underway
One of The Rotary Foundation's most popular programs is the Group Study Exchange [GSE].  Planning in our district for GSE Norway is well underway.  We have two fantastic team leaders in place-- Team Leader Kathy Stromvig (RC SE Portland), and Alternate Team Leader Eric Reise (RC Hermiston).  Team Leader Kathy is working hard at recruiting team member applicants, but we need your help!
The deadline for team member applications is August 28th.  Potential team members must be between ages 25 and 40, be employed full time, and either live or work in our Rotary district.  They cannot be Rotarians or be the lineal descendant of a  Rotarian.  A love of travel, interest in other cultures, and desire to learn more about Rotary are musts.  Most costs for the trip are paid for by Rotary.
Interviews for GSE Norway team member applicants will be held on Saturday, September 12th.  Dates for the outbound trip are April 27th to May 18th, 2010.  Inbound team from Norway will be here from May 16th  to June 6th, 2010.  We will start recruiting clubs to host the inbound team this fall.
All Rotarians, especially AGs, TRF Specialists, Presidents and club officers, are encouraged to "talk up" GSE and encourage Rotarians to recruit applicants and host clubs.  As you all know, GSE is a cultural and vocational opportunity that can be life-changing.  We hope to recruit many qualified applicants with your help.

Please contact GSE Chair Vicki Yates for more information at [email protected] or the district website under The Rotary Foundation.
