Learn More

This Sunday we begin a month long series studying  what the bible has to say about sexuality, politics, and money.

To kick things off, Dean will be answering questions that are trending in your mind during all three services via live text.  Come prepared for a round of "You Asked"  at 10:00, 11:30 and 6:00.  The lines are actually open right now, and if you've got questions you'd like Dean to answer, text CITYC and your question to 22333.

Learn More

I grew up in a family where "being good" was what mattered. I was baptized, experienced my first communion, confirmed- the whole package, but as someone who had only been to church a handful of times what I knew was that God was our creator, and if I was a good person I would end up in heaven. I honestly don't know if I was really worried where I would end up. I wanted people to like me, and to be known for doing the right thing. So I made sure I was a great student, good athlete, best friend, and all around perfect daughter.

As I entered into high school my dad unexpectedly left my mom, sister, and I. As a girl who wanted nothing more but to be the perfect daughter to her father, I was devastated. That summer I ended up at a Young Life camp in Jasper, Georgia. For the first time, I heard a story about a God who was a loving father and wanted a relationship with me. He wasn't just some guy who sat all high and mighty on His throne in heaven waiting for me to die, hoping I was making good choices along the way. In fact, He calls me his Daughter, He wants me and chooses a relationship with me. (Mark 5:34, Isaiah 62:2) That, was something I desperately desired. Not to be called the names I had come to believe growing up in a world that lies to us. Not to be someone abandoned for something better, but to be someone's Daughter. Talk about a life changing experience.

City Church has been an indescribable experience for me. As a Young Life leader in Tallahassee, I want to attend a church that is truly for this City. I feel most connected to a church where I can serve and grow as well as feel comfortable bringing friends who know nothing about God. It is important for me to be a part of a family that is not worried about offending someone with the truth of the Gospel. I desire a place where I can bring my Young Life friends and know that the words they hear preached are Biblical truths.

The "Suburban Legends" series has been a heartfelt one. Not only have I heard all of the lies Dean has been addressing, but also believed many of them. I have a passion for the people in our city to know the Gospel. To know that they have a Savior who calls them His own and wants a relationship with them. I am thankful that Dean and his staff desire to change our city, facilitate us to be a part of this mission, and ultimately to share with Tallahassee the greatest love story ever told.
