This Sunday, our Lead Pastor Dean Inserra concludes our series called "Why Not Tallahassee?" as we look at the importance of the vision of the local church in reaching Tallahassee with the Gospel. We will also be celebrating the Lord's supper this Sunday. 

 

This Sunday we begin our new schedule with three service times at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

A Fresh Start Learn More

The start of a new school  year always brings new excitement to our lives. My husband and I are both teachers in Leon County and as much as we enjoy the summer months off to spend time with our family we also look forward to getting back into a routine.

 

As the summer months end, Fall brings anticipation of a new school year with new families, football season, cooler weather, new church services and opportunities to get connected, a "fresh start" all together. As we get ready to begin the new season, I want to challenge you to make a fresh start and allow that excitement to carry out the whole year.  

 

Ephesians 3:20-21 says "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.

 

Who doesn't want to become closer with  God, with a promise like this? God wants us more than anything to spend time with him daily. He wants us to become close, to turn every "compartment" in our lives over to him. Hand it over and listen. You may be amazed at what God has to say, when we step back and allow Him to work in our lives. The goodness of God covers the entire spectrum of whatever we need. There is no limit to all he has and no limit to all he wants to do in our lives.

 

Now is the time to dream bigger dreams, pray specific prayers, and take risk in our faith. Pray for God to allow opportunities to share your faith with non-believers. Sometimes our actions are more powerful than our words, it's the love of Christ working in and through you that draws people to Him. A friendly smile and hello may go along way. As part of City Church we are committed to leading people  on a life changing journey to follow Christ.

 

God calls us to be His servants. As we kick off a new year, find a place to get connected. City Church offers many ways to grow in your faith, serve others and impact the city of Tallahassee.

 

Where are you today? Think about it, are you ready for a fresh start? God is able to do immeasurably more and with him we are able to accomplish immeasurably more in our lives because of His power and His power at work in our lives.

 

Ephesians 5:1-2 Be imitators of God, therefore, as clearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice of God. 

  

(Emily is from Central Florida and is married to Ryan Pennington.  They have an 8 month old son, Parker, and have attended City Church since 2010. She works as a kindergarten teacher at Killearn Lakes Elementary School.)
