[City Speak]

By: Kyle Hartmann

My name is Kyle Hartmann and I started attending City Church with my wife, Stacy, and our daughters Abbie and Kate, late in 2011.  We have grown so much in the last six months in our walk with Christ since we have become owners in the church; we are very blessed to be here.

Being married to Stacy the last 12+ years, we have learned how important it is to pray and ask God for provisions in our life, and City Church has been an answered prayer.  The thing that has allowed us to jump into the life of the church was attending our Wednesday night group led by Scott Simmons.  We quickly got to know everyone in the group and I feel like we all became a small family since January.  Scott had mentioned to our group (about a month ago) the desire to grow the small group community to allow more people in the church attend a group.  Since then, Stacy and I have decided to start a new community group (which will start in the fall) that will focus on marriage.

Stacy and I used to be part of a program that took engaged couples on a weekend to teach them the biblical aspects of living a marriage according to God's word.  We haven't taught the weekend in a couple of years and we thought we may be finished with that ministry in our lives. However, God has put it on our heart to turn that weekend into a small group that will focus on engaged and married couples; it will help them understand what the bible teaches about loving your spouse, communication, managing money and other important issues in marriage.  We are really excited about this opportunity since marriage is such an important creation God has given his people.

Most people think marriage should come easily and there shouldn't be much work involved since you love your spouse.  However, you will have tough times in your marriage and having Jesus as the center of that marriage will give you the power to withstand hardships that can catch you off guard.   I am a little biased because I really appreciate our small group, but I encourage everyone at City Church to become involved in a community group.  It allows you to know other people on a personal level and learn more  about God's word, which is a very important part of being a Christian.

(Kyle and his wife, Stacy, attended Florida State University from 1994 to 1999 and moved back to Tallahassee in 2005.  They currently own their own business called Technical Recruiting Solutions, where they place technical personnel into positions in the panhandle area.)
