[City Speak]

by: Lead Pastor - Dean Inserra

In May of 1999 I walked across the stage at the Civic Center to receive my diploma as a graduate of Leon High School. Just before it was my turn to shake hands with my principal and walk off into the rest of my life, I turned to my buddy David Isted and told him, "I want to have a Church service in here one day."

By the absolute grace of God, on April 8th at 11:00 a.m., the dream of my teenage years will become a reality as City Church hosts our Easter service at the Civic Center. I will preach on a stage that will be located at the exact same spot where I walked across the stage in my red cap and gown, 13 years ago.

That is my story, but this isn't about me. Easter at the Civic Center is about the Gospel. It's about making the name of Jesus known in our city, a place that needs to hear about the cross and resurrection greatly. On April 8th, this coming Sunday, we take a mission trip in our own city. There is no passport needed, just the desperation to see God move and the urgency to invite our friends.

Desperation and urgency. Those are two words that are popular to say in Church culture, but not commonly seen. Urgency comes from desperation. I cannot expect people to have a sense of urgency for their friends to hear the gospel, when they aren't desperate to see and experience a movement of God themselves. Please pray for God to make you long to see Him move. Pray for the gospel to be clear, and for thousands to gather this Easter Sunday.

The time is now City Church. There is nothing more to say and nothing more to hype. The opportunity is in front of us, and it is our responsibility to be good stewards of it.

Desperate and Urgent.

Why Not Tallahassee.
