[City Speak]

by: Alex Carswell
As a child, my family was in church whenever the doors were open and I loved every minute of it. I accepted Christ into my heart when I was young and was pumped about it. However, as I grew older I began drifting away from the Lord. Going to church became more of chore for me and reading my bible was something I only did "if I had time". When I moved back to Tallahassee for college, I had no expectations other than partying and getting a degree. I soon realized that God had other plans for me.
The first time I came to City Church Tallahassee, I knew it was something special. As I walked into the warehouse I immediately felt welcomed. The message, the music, the congregation and atmosphere as a whole made me excited for Sundays to roll around. In the sermons to follow, God spoke straight to my heart through Dean. The Southern Comfort series made me realize that I needed to get out of my comfort zone and stop living for myself. The majority of my life I was only living for God one day out of the week, Sunday. It was time for me to give everything to Jesus and let him write the story of my life. Dean's messages during the Southern Comfort series really inspired me to let everything go and focus on the Lord. I am now trying to make every minute of every day my masterpiece by glorifying God in all that I do.
I now volunteer regularly in City Church Kids and am proud to wear the bright green t-shirt every Sunday. I feel blessed to work with these kids and teach them the word of God. I love being a part of this church and am excited to grow even more in Christ. I am so thankful for the staff and congregation here at City Church Tallahassee and want to thank them for doing what they do. I can't wait to see God does in my life and in this church and hope to see everyone on Easter Sunday at the Civic Center!
