[City Speak]
by Kirsten Nyman
Every Easter and Christmas, without fail, my Aunt and Uncle (two non-believers) ask our family when the holiday services are for my parents church. Maybe this is so they can check this off their holiday to-do list, pat themselves on the back, or to get the satisfaction or state of mind that they are indeed a good person, with morals and values because they celebrated the birth of our Lord and Savior in whom they may or may not believe in. Maybe it's just the "Christmas Spirit" they feel when they are singing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" at the end of the service that they think makes them right with whatever higher being they think may exist. People everywhere are celebrating the birth of a God that they or may not believe in, but both believers and non believers everywhere both take part in this holiday and celebration that revolves around one truth- Jesus Christ. This coming Sunday is the biggest opportunity our church has to reach people in Tallahassee. Your entire life, God has been placing others in your life as a means to share the Gospel with them. There is absolutely no coincidence for anything in your life, that you are where you are right now, The Lord says, "For I am your creator, you were in my care even before you were born." - Isaiah 44:2 This has been a struggle I have dealt with in the past year. Being a typical over programmed sorority girl, I often can't find time between all the emails and meetings. It wasn't until Dean tweeted to me during Panhellenic Recruitment in August, something along of the lines of, "Good luck with recruitment @kirsten_nym, huge platform for the gospel, use it!" Every opportunity I have is an opportunity to show God's love for them. No matter whether it was during recruitment with 1500 incoming potential new members, that one person you know in your office, each of us is called to share the love of Christ that each one of us has experienced for ourselves. Christas on The Moon is one of my favorite Sundays. Even before I got serious about my relationship with Christ I always made it a point to make it to these services because of how freaking awesome it is. For those people that have been placed in your life, this is the perfect opportunity to share the Gospel with them. Yes, you might be taking advantage of this 'Christ spirit" present in their hearts because they are more likely and willing to say yes, but as a Christian, we are called to share the love of Christ that we often boast of. City Church is going to bring it on Sunday. I'm already pumped for Todd and Giana to bring the house down and for Dean to make some corny jokes. But how selfish would we be if we were only willing to share how awesome it's going to be with only ourselves?
