Well Said
By Natalie Mitchell
Stumbling block or stepping stone? This question has been on my mind for the past couple years...well, 19 and half months to be exact. Less than two years ago I found myself pregnant and not married. It was the worst catastrophe I had ever found myself in. I couldn't believe it. And then after I believed it, I had to deal with the reality of my circumstance.
On a lighter note I was having a boy. I freaked out!!!!! How am I going to have a boy when I am the most feminine girl you will ever meet??
There have been many teary nights, discouragement, complaining, more tears and just plain hopelessness. Realizing the Lord wanted my attention, most of my thoughts revolved around how all this will work. I started to seek Him wholeheartedly coming to a realization to "be still and know that He is God". By His grace I came to true repentance and surrendering of my life to Jesus Christ. Things changed. Not my circumstance but my mind was being renewed daily; my heart started hungering for the Lord. I had an insatiable hunger and a passion to know Him through and through. Peace swept through the core of my entire being-something I had never truly experienced.
My greatest joy is not through any of my circumstances but the mere fact God gave me a second chance! Praise be to Jesus I received so many blessings. My son is a beautiful healthy boy whom I praise Jesus for daily and ask for His guidance upon my son's life. God used the gift of my son to become a stepping stone to land on the true cornerstone of Jesus Christ. One verse that I live by is 1 Thessalonians 5:28 "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
My prayer is that my story be a realization of the One who is at work within me... the glory and power of Jesus Christ. My most recent theme verse comes from Isaiah 28: 16 "So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: 'See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed". The definition of a cornerstone (or foundation stone) is a concept derived from the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation which is important since all other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure. By divine grace, I am learning to build everything on Jesus the firm foundation a cornerstone.
My passion is to proclaim the Truth not only to those who find themselves in what the world would see as hopeless circumstances but to those fulfilling their dreams. Knowing Jesus is the source of peace and joy in all circumstances. Having an eternal mindset you begin to realize we are all on a journey. Everyone around you is either a follower of Jesus Christ marked with a seal, or not. Lives can be transformed, renewed by the power of Jesus Christ- John 14:6-7 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
I humble myself before Him daily on hands and knees thanking the One who gave it all. The source of everlasting life. To Jesus Christ be the Glory and Power. Amen.
