Well Said
by Thomas H. Inserra
I attended both services on our last Sunday at The
Moon. After the last service and after most of The Wellers had filed out, I
took one last look at the place we called home the last few weeks. The staff at
The Moon has been so accommodating to us. The Moon has truly been our home away
from home and I am sure we will return for a special occasion in the future. As
my wife, Marcia and I started to leave, I gave one of the staff members of The
Moon a handout that said we would be moving to our permanent home beginning
September 12. He thanked me and as I looked back, I saw him taping it to the glass
in their ticket window for everyone to see. He saw me smile and gave me a full
toothy smile in return. The Moon may have had a smoke smell and the temperature
was never quite right but it was our temporary home. Good night Moon and hello
to our permanent home. The Well has been wanderers: a living room, a church on High Road, a high
school auditorium, a few services at a church near campus, a summer at a church
on Old Bainbridge Road, Thomasville Road Baptist Church and The Moon. It really
hit me when Matthew said: "I hope to see you and a friend at our permanent home
next week." The Lord has directed us to a permanent home. This does sound
familiar.
I was raised Catholic, later attended a Moravian
Church and then a Methodist Church before making our church home at The Well. I
had some good experiences during the wandering time but now I have found our
church home. This does sound familiar. I know one thing; I have never had a
sermon that focused on Romans 10:13. Never! How can such a powerful verse not
been preached during my 50 something years? What good news for "Everyone who
calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." As Dean pointed out then if you
do not call on the name of the Lord you will not be saved. It made me think of
the bumper sticker that says "COEXIST." In itself, this is fine but all others
that we are to coexist with that are not Christians will not call on the name
of the Lord. At The Well, we have seen the light by establishing relationships
with those that have not called on the name of the Lord. Do not pass on an
opportunity to share the truth: The Gospel.
Jeff Merritt and I lead a Small Group that we call
The Varsity. Our group has the over 40 age group. We would love to have anyone
under 40 too! I love it when Jeff leads the group. He can teach the Gospel with
a style that brings in real life experiences. Sharing the Gospel is our Call
and you will love the way Jeff presents it. Please come and join The Varsity!
I guess we can really say, Goodnight Moon and hello
to our new home. I pray that I see you there and most importantly, bring a
friend. Now that is how to coexist!
