Well Said

dTime Management
by Sarah Cowart

A little less than two weeks ago I woke up from the dream that was 6 weeks in Florence, Italy. Instead of walking across the Ponte Vecchio and the Piazza Della Republica, I drive by I-4 and Lake Eola (yes, I'm an Orlando native).

Upon returning, the question everyone asks is: "Do you speak fluent Italian now?" to which I shamefully drop my gaze and mumble "No." However, occasionally I'm asked what I learned while was there (a much better question in my opinion). I have a goody bag of answers including: travel savvy, money conversions, restaurants to avoid, etc. But as I thought some more about this, a comparison I heard many times in Florence came to mind:

                  Americans live to work.
                  Italians work to live.

What a concept! The emphasis in their culture is on time for relationships and life and breathing. Imagine applying this to our lives as Americans and, even further, as Christians. What would that look like?

To be quite honest, it could look like Christ. While I want to be successful and live the dream, I want to live relationally more. Not to say one culture has it figured out, but more so to question how we spend our time.

This summer is a great time to evaluate our daily lives. Am I using time wisely? Am I being intentional with the free time I have? What are my biggest concerns?

While I recover from jet-lag and Florence withdraws I want to challenge you to join me in taking each day as an opportunity for relationships and life and breathing. In this time of transition as a church let's start transitioning individually. The Well is on the move and I want my focus to keep up with it.

Deuteronomy 4:39
Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

The Well is a church that is committed to connecting with the unchurched community of Tallahassee. It is the desire of the Well to create an atmosphere that is engaging to this generation in the twenty-first century.
