Well Said
by Krissie Inserra For those of you who aren't aware, I've had some major change in my life
in the past few weeks. I've gone from being the wife of a very busy
pastor and the mother of a non-stop almost-four-year-old to being the
wife of a very busy pastor and the mother of a non-stop
almost-four-year-old plus a three-week-old. It's not exactly the
glamorous life. I now run on a 24-hour schedule and feed Ty (our
newborn) 8-12 times a day. Sometimes he wants to sneak in 13 or 14, but
I gotta draw a line somewhere! When I finish with my last
middle-of-the-night feeding (usually around 6 am), I lay down for about
30 minutes until I hear a knock at our door and Tommy's up and ready to
start his day. Thank goodness for coffee! But lately my coffee maker
has been making something that looks similar to weak tea, so I've been a
bit on the grumpy side in the mornings. My hair comes out of a
pony-tail maybe once a week, and I manage to smear a bit of makeup on at
some point most days. And I'm pretty sure my teeth get brushed every
day. But I couldn't be happier. It seems like I've
always been in a "waiting" period of my life. Waiting to finish
college. Waiting to get married. Waiting to find a job that I am happy
in. Waiting to start a family. Waiting to add to the family. Maybe
it's because I'm busier than I've been in a long time, but I feel
content now. I'm learning that God gives us things to look forward to
and he tells us to put our hope in his promises, but he wants us to live
here and now. "This is the
day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." So
now the question that I have to ask myself is, "How can I best glorify
God in the place that I'm at today?" In my case, it's being as loving
and supportive to Dean as I possibly can. It's taking care of my
children and using every opportunity to teach them about the God that
Dean and I pray they come to know. It's not cussing when my coffee
maker is on the fritz. What about you? |
