Behind the Scenes
( Behind the Scenes is a new eWell feature aimed at introducing you to many of those involved at The Well who don't often get recognized. Be sure to say hello and introduce yourself to these Well family members when you see them! Matt Folsom: Since our move to Godby High School in August 2007, Matt Folsom has served as The Well's Sound Engineer, professionally mixing our live gatherings and events. Matt, a Tallahassee local (graduating from Lincoln High School in 2002) has been married to his wife Jessica for three years. Matt attended Florida State University to pursue a degree as an Engineer, and now owns his own sound company, Down South Productions, providing services for events including weddings, concerts, and much more all over the South East. Matt works for a local electrician, and is currently studying for exams to become a licensed electrician himself. Matt's usually the first on the scene on Sundays, pulling his huge double axle trailer where our equipment is stored. Each Sunday, Matt leads a team through setting up, tearing down, and going live for our services.

Well Said
by Meghan Hyatt (Interim Well Kids Director) I changed my first diaper when I was eight years old. I've
been babysitting since I was eleven. I have probably made more bottles,
bandaged more boo-boos and wiped more snotty faces than many first time
parents. God has given me a love for children since I was one myself. I was
made to be a Well Kids volunteer.
Every Sunday in Well Kids is a chance to see the bright
faces of the kids I have loved for two years, the sweet babies that are growing
so fast, and curious (or terrified) newcomers that are joining us for the first
time. Seeing every child grow and change is so exciting, but seeing them learn
about Jesus is more fulfilling than anything I have ever been a part of.
Working with the children of our church is so much fun for me, but if I told
you that I have enjoyed every minute of it I would be lying.
I didn't enjoy the hours of setting up and tearing down in
Godby when we had no heat in the winter and no AC in the summer. I don't enjoy
pulling a screaming child from their mother, reassuring them that "Mommy will
be back soon" to no avail. There are hours of emailing, coordinating, and
scheduling during the week to prepare for each weekend, and it's no secret that
I have left The Ark looking less than glamorous many a Sunday. As I have taken
the role of Director for the summer, each Sunday comes with a little more
responsibility and pressure. While it is a sometimes stressful, and time
consuming job, I am so thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to help lead
Well Kids this summer because it is a chance to serve.
Regardless of how you are serving, there will be good times
and bad. In Well Kids there are always going to be kids that brighten my day
and there will always be times that I want to pull out my hair, but we are
called to serve and I couldn't ask for a better way to do my part. Not everyone
has the childcare skills of a seasoned babysitter, so we don't ask everyone to
join us in The Ark on Sundays. But each of us has a passion, talent or ability,
given by the Lord. Why not use that to serve Him and his church? Committing to
serve in Well Kids has been an incredible blessing in my life. Commit to serve
in a way that suits you; give some of your time and some of yourself, and see
how God change you through it.
