Well Said

by Alexis Franz

Another spring semester has come to an end, and that marks the completion of my third school year in Tallahassee. This past year flew by, and looking back to freshman year seems like ages ago. So much has changed since August 2007, and it feels like I was a totally different person back then.

And in a lot of ways, I was.

In September of 2007, I went to my first Well service at Godby Auditorium. I was brand new to FSU, didn't really know anyone, and was desperately trying to find a good group of friends! I identified myself as a Christian, and was interested in going to church more, but really hadn't developed an actual relationship with God. After that first service at The Well, I knew that it was exactly where I was supposed to be. It was very different from what I remembered from my early years in traditional Lutheran Sunday School, but for the first time I felt 100% comfortable in a church setting. My life wasn't perfect, and I didn't always have everything together (and obviously still don't!), but that didn't matter- and I didn't have to pretend otherwise.

I continued attending The Well almost every single Sunday through that year, and my next two years of college. I've gotten involved, joined my first small group, and met tons of amazing people. Last month I was baptized, and I'm so happy that I made the decision to publicly accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. My walk with God is a continuous work-in-progress, but the love and support that I get from my Well-family is indescribable.

I am so thankful for The Well, and all the wonderful people that comprise my church. Lives are changing every day in Tallahassee (my life certainly did), and it is truly a blessing to be able to see, and be a part of, God's work. I can't wait to get back to Tallahassee in the fall to see what huge and exciting things (including maybe a new building!) that God has in store!
