"Peeps?" by Dean Inserra

The most miraculous and unexplainable event in the history of the world
is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was literally dead in a tomb for
three days and as promised, came back to life, proving himself to be
God.
How do we celebrate this amazing historical, world-altering event?
By wearing a tie, eating ham, and seeing an overwhelming number of Peeps
on display at Publix, Wal-Mart, and Walgreens. Something tells me New
Leaf and Fresh Market do not participate in the Peeps Easter
celebration, but I could be wrong. How did Peeps become associated with
Easter? Death and the grave could not conquer Jesus and he gets peeps?
St Patrick gets Guinness, Valentine's Day gets a box of red roses, and
then there is God, himself, celebrated by the grossest piece of food
ever created.
Well, I have learned through Scripture that Easter really is all
about Peeps. It is a day to celebrate the greatness and majesty of the
One who had victory over Satan, Sin, and Death, and I cannot think of a
better way to celebrate than by doing the very thing Jesus told us to
do, b
e the SENT people of God to our Peeps.
Some of the last things Jesus told his followers:
Then
Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew
28:18-20)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and
you
will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to
the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has
sent me, I am sending you .(John 20:21)
We make a huge deal
about
Easter On The Moon because we believe the greatest way to bring
Christ glory is by making his name known. For some reason, people who do
not know Christ are willing to go to church on Easter. For some, it is a
yearly tradition. Please have urgency this week and treat this as the
most important thing we do as a church. Scripture says that the angels
rejoice when ONE person comes to know Christ. Bringing one person is a
huge deal and so worth it! Who knows what God can and will do at the
Moon on Easter Sunday.
We are having two Easter services for the first time in the Well's
young history. That means there are options. Which service should you
attend? Easy. The service your friends and family members are the most
likely to attend with you.
Please make a strong effort to remember to pray for everyone involved
in this celebration. Praying for the Wells leaders, Well Kids staff,
those who are debating in their minds whether or not to attend, our
band, the staff at the Moon, and protection from Satan's schemes are a
must.
I am seriously pumped and ready to go. My sermon on Easter will be on
how Christ is the only firm foundation. That is a message that needs to
be heard in Tallahassee, and you already have the relationships in
place to make the big ask. I am texting a friend as soon as I finish
typing this. I am confident that he will be at the Moon this Sunday. I
have been having lunch with him on a monthly basis for two years. I care
about him, want him to know Christ, and it is time for the big ask.
See you Sunday. Bring your Peeps! That is what the Gospel is about.
God love for all our Peeps, found in the death, burial and Resurrection
of Christ.
Let's make this known.
