"This Changes Everything" by James Parsons

A question I've been asking myself for quite some time now is "Why do we "do" church"? Why do we
have so many people that are so sold out to what is going on at The Well? There
are people that arrive at Godby High School at 7:15 in the morning and some
that stay until almost 9:00 at night. My question is what drives the countless
people into an insane commitment to their church?
The only thing that I can come up is
actually the name of the upcoming sermon series entitled "The Gospel." It is
going to be a great series and I know you are not going to want to miss any of
it.
It is all about people being able to
stand up and say in response to the message that they have heard, "this changes
everything." Churches that do not preach the birth, death, and coming back to
life of Christ will never have people able to say: "This changes everything." This is what drives all the staff and volunteers that are sold out to The Well. It is seeing lives changed forever.
If Christ can save a sissified
Sunday school boy like me, he can save anyone! I always want to go back to the
idea of doing good things and showing up and thinking that everything will be
fine. That is the most dangerous thinking that Christians can have. When church
becomes anything other than preaching the gospel, there are problems (we will learn more
intensively what the gospel is during our new sermon series).
I don't know much but I do know that
my friends that don't know Christ don't need to hear seven steps to have a
better life, they need to hear that Christ loves them so much that He died for
them. That is what will make them stand up and say "this changes
everything." If I don't have the
boldness to get in my friends faces like someone did for me, I am living the
opposite of Christ. I need to ask myself daily can I say "this changes
everything."
