everlasting truth, ever-changing culture
eWell Header

The Well is a church that is committed to connecting with the unchurched community of Tallahassee. It is the desire of the Well to create an atmosphere that is engaging to this generation in the twenty-first century. While the culture of Tallahassee is always changing, we believe that the message of Jesus Christ is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. The Well is a church that will speak an everlasting truth in an ever-changing culture.

This Sunday Dean concludes the Glamorous series.

Well Said
"Full" by Dan Butz

dI have been thinking about Jesus' statement in John 10:10 "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

Of course if you follow Christ you get to the point where you have to ask, "Is this the abundant life? Because it sure doesn't seem like it." I heard someone say that the abundant life is really experiencing the depths of sorrow and the heights of joy. Really experiencing them without running from the pain of sorrow or thinking that the joy is just too much and choosing not to accept the gift. That description is abundant and full but it is not easy.

I think God experiences life that abundantly.  2 Peter 3:8 says, "With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." God sees and in some sense experiences each day so richly it is like each day takes a thousand years. As we live life with God living in us and through us we may get to experience part of that richness that God experiences every day. Everyone desires to live life more richly an abundantly.

Jimmy Valvano, NC State basketball coach, painted a good picture of what it could look like to live a full life. At the ESPN awards (8 days before dying of cancer) he said, "To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special." In some sense I think that he captures the thought that we all want to live the abundant life. Jesus knows the desires of our heart and came that we might have life and have it to the full.
