everlasting truth, ever-changing culture
eWell Header

The Well is a church that is committed to connecting with the unchurched community of Tallahassee. It is the desire of the Well to create an atmosphere that is engaging to this generation in the twenty-first century. While the culture of Tallahassee is always changing, we believe that the message of Jesus Christ is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. The Well is a church that will speak an everlasting truth in an ever-changing culture.

This Sunday, Dean begins a new series "Neutered" and will reference Luke 4.

Well Said
"Tomorrow" by Alex Scott

dOn the first day of class last semester I was given an assignment to attend an open Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in order to observe a support group firsthand. It would be an understatement to say that I was less than excited about attending the meeting, but I knew I had no real choice. The assignment was not due until the week before finals, so I figured I would eventually warm up to the idea and go. I didn't, and before I knew it the assignment was almost due. I had put it off until the very last minute.

The night before the due date, I finally made it to a meeting. Not knowing what to expect I walked into the room feeling nervous and very out of place. The people there welcomed me with open arms and seemed genuinely happy to have me join them. At one point during the hour someone told a fictional story about a jaywalker. In the beginning the man would jaywalk in front of a small car, and jump out of the way just in time to avoid an accident. As his courage grew, he soon found himself jaywalking in front of larger or faster cars. He eventually got hit and landed in the hospital. However, as soon as he was out of the hospital, he was again trying his luck with jaywalking which would put him back in the hospital.  This was supposed to resemble an alcoholic's drinking pattern, but it struck me for another reason.

I realized that this pattern was almost identical to the pattern of my procrastination. It was not just procrastination with school, but my procrastination in my relationship with God as well. I realized that I was always willing to make time to watch a football game, go to the gym, spend time with friends, or anything else that I wanted to do, but I was pushing God to the end of the day, when I was usually too tired to actually read my bible, or pray more than just a short prayer as I fell asleep. Or maybe I felt like I should share the Gospel with someone, but always said to myself: "Can't tomorrow present that same opportunity?" As much as I may want to hope and think that tomorrow will allow me the same opportunities as today, we are not promised anything.

I am still not perfect in this, or any area of my life, but it is my prayer to continue to make God first, and friends, TV, the gym, the internet, etc. second. I challenge myself and the rest of you to see the urgency in today, and to make an effort to do those things that we have been putting off until tomorrow.
