everlasting truth, ever-changing culture
eWell Header

The Well is a church that is committed to connecting with the unchurched community of Tallahassee. It is the desire of the Well to create an atmosphere that is engaging to this generation in the twenty-first century. While the culture of Tallahassee is always changing, we believe that the message of Jesus Christ is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. The Well is a church that will speak an everlasting truth in an ever-changing culture.

Well Said
Strong and Loving" by Giana Lopez

Sometimes I feel as though I am wearing God's patience thin. I feel like at any moment He will throw up His hands and be like "no more. I've watched you run away one too many times." It is in times of struggle, when I feel as though I am fighting just to stay afloat, that I remember two things: "that You, O God, are strong, and that You, O Lord, are loving." (Psalm 62: 11-12) His love is relentless. His love is loud. His love is not safe (not in the face of our sins anyway); He is not a fair-weather lover of our souls. He is "into us," as Dean has been teaching, to the point that He has already given everything. He has already been seeking us since we were created, working everything for our good, whether we see it or not. He presents the offer of sins forgiven, of life eternal, of healing thorough. Everyday His mercy is new. He is the only One strong enough to keep loving us the way He does. I want to start to live life facing this God of passionate pursuit.

I've also been learning that God promises Himself to be a great many things to me, and I don't take Him up on too many of them. He calls Himself Husband, Protector, Healer, Lover, Comforter, Shield, Father, Provider, Counselor, Shepherd, Guide, etc... There is a wealth of things that I need Him to be for me (that He wants to be for me) that I refuse to let Him be. Why? In Acts 3, there is a passage about a crippled man begging for coins outside the temple gate. The disciples give him the ability to walk instead. In a sermon on the passage, I heard a beautiful interpretation of the story. "We've stopped asking God for what we really need," the speaker said, "because we assume the request is too great, too unrealistic, too much to ask of God. So we resign to asking for 'coins' when we really want to ask for our legs back."

I feel as though we forget our identity as CHILDREN of the CREATOR of the UNIVERSE. We have legitimate needs that God can see, and I'm sure He wonders why we've stopped hoping to be delivered from them. We've grown all too settled in our messes. We need to get honest with ourselves and present our needs to our Heavenly Father who lacks nothing.
