"Two" by Dean Inserra

We are just over a week away from celebrating our two-year
anniversary at The Well. I have been trying to think of words to
describe how I am feeling as we approach this significant milestone in
the life of a Church plant.
The words that continue to come to my mind are: Thankful and Urgent
I
am thankful in ways I have never experienced for God's calling, grace,
and hands upon our Church. If He is not the very One making everything
happen...nothing else matters. I am dependent on Him to move and for
that I have learned to be very thankful.
I am thankful for the many lives I have seen the Lord change and
the lives yet to come. I am thankful that Hell is less populated.
I
am thankful for the many who have poured their lives into the Well over
the past two years. For those who pray daily, give sacrificially, show
up early, stay late, minister to children, lead community groups, and
handle our finances...words cannot describe how thankful I am.
I am thankful for the new faces I see every Sunday. That never gets old.
I am thankful for Krissie. She lives our vision and has my back. I am thankful for a staff made up of my friends.
I
also feel a sense of urgency that I cannot explain. An urgency for a
city that is overchurched and under-reached. A city full of Christ-less
religion and churchy masks. Many Tallahassee Christians are in denial
over the spiritual state of our city and the results of this negligence
is a place very far from God. Rather than complain, the time is urgent.
We have only just begun. The Well was never started to provide a safe
little place for families to go eat chicken together. It was started to
lead individuals and families to see themselves as missionaries in
their own city. A place where following Jesus goes beyond avoiding a
few popular sins.
The Well is a Church that speaks an everlasting truth in an
ever-changing culture. The past two years have been great. I am very
thankful. However, if we ever get satisfied with having a nice Church
and a room full of people...God's hand will come off of us and we will
turn into another religious pocket and subculture in a city that already has
plenty.
A whole new chapter begins on August 16th at our Two-Year
Anniversary Celebration. The following Sunday, August 23rd, we will
launch our second worship time option at 11:05am. We are starting a
second service for one simple reason...to reach more people for Christ.
Please pray. Please give. Please get involved in this mission.
Thankful and Urgent!
