everlasting truth, ever-changing culture

The Well is a church that is committed to connecting with the unchurched community of Tallahassee. It is the desire of the Well to create an atmosphere that is engaging to this generation in the twenty-first century. While the culture of Tallahassee is always changing, we believe that the message of Jesus Christ is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. The Well is a church that will speak an everlasting truth in an ever-changing culture.

This Sunday

Well Said
"Ah Ha Moment" by Gwendolyn Gay

eWell HeaderHave you ever had an "Ah Ha" (not the 80's band) moment? A moment where God makes something abundantly clear to you. I truly believe that God can use anything to reveal his wisdom to us or to get our attention. He can use anything from a burning bush to a cereal box. I happened to have heard God's wisdom from a talking turtle this week.

My husband and I settled in for a night of "fluff" as I like to call G rated movies. I fully expected to be entertained without having to think too hard about anything for an hour and a half, and then I heard it:

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That why they call it the present."

I felt as though I had been kicked in the stomach. This cartoon turtle forced me to think about living in the present and what that really meant. I am one of those people that has to plan everything months in advance which makes is extremely hard to live in the present. The "get closer to God so you can hear how he wants to use you" box was always moved to another day, and now I know why. I believed that God has something big for everyone including myself, but sometimes I think I'm not "holy" enough yet for such a calling. In reality, God wants to use us today.  I of all people should be living my life like there is no tomorrow! Unexpectedly loosing my Dad two years ago was a huge wakeup call for me and from that point on I started to turn my life around. But somewhere along the way I started to focus inwardly again. I may not have been making the same mistakes as before but I was as selfish as ever.

To be outwardly focused God needs to be the center of our attention and we need to keep in mind that no matter what we are going through God can handle it. We need to remember that we are all works in progress and will continue to be until the Lord calls us home. God can use us where we are today, so we can't hide behind the excuse that we aren't "holy" enough. I just want to encourage everyone to get out there and live life for God and to its fullest. Don't wait to hear it from a talking turtle.
