The Well is a church that is committed to connecting with the unchurched community of Tallahassee. It is the desire of the Well to create an atmosphere that is engaging to this generation in the twenty-first century. While the culture of Tallahassee is always changing, we believe that the message of Jesus Christ is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. The Well is a church that will speak an everlasting truth in an ever-changing culture.

"For the single most important institution shaping Western culture is the university. It is at the university that our future political leaders, our journalists, our teachers, our business executives, our lawyers, our artists, will be trained. It is at the university that they will formulate or, more likely, simply absorb the worldview that will shape their lives. And since these are the opinion-makers and leaders who shape our culture, our worldview that they imbibe at the university will be the one that shapes our culture. If the Christian worldview can be restored to a place of prominence and respect at the university, it will have a leavening effect throughout society. If we change the university, we change our culture through those who shape culture." (Moreland & Craig)

WELL SAID
"Best Sellers" by Sarah Graves

d For the past year and a half I've been studying to become a Family Counselor. I wasn't always sure that I wanted to focus on families, but in the past few months, I've discovered it's what I really want to do.  I still have a lot to learn, but I'm fully prepared for the journey. Thankfully, there are experts in the field who write books, provide seminars, and teach classes to help people like me know more about this population and how to help them. To begin my journey, I started strolling through Borders until I finally found my sections-Child Psychology and Marriage & Divorce. As I flipped through books trying to figure out which ones were the best representations of my subjects, I began to wonder what people pick out when they're in the Christianity section.

I walked over to the section and tried to imagine myself as a non-believer trying to learn about Christianity. It was all wrong. The books were in alpha order. Joel Osteen's books were all by Beth Moore's books. It looked like they were on the same team. You would think that the forward facing books would hold the most truth about the subject, but in actuality they're just the ones that sell the most copies. I wanted to sit there and rearrange the whole section, even if it took me hours. I wanted to arrange them according to what books would be most helpful for a non-believer to read in order to know the truth about Christianity. And sorry to break it to you, but "Become a Better You" was not one of them; neither was "One Year New Testament for Busy Days." I got more and more anxious as the minutes ticked by. I didn't want people who were seeking the truth to come to the Christianity section, pick up some of these books and think they were going to find the gospel. Yes I'm saying it. Some of those books need to be thrown out of the Christianity section. Half of the books' messages aren't even consistent with the other half's. They are not helpful sources of the truth, not even close. Then it hit me- this is what we look like. We're all so busy with our own agendas that the messages we put out there for all to see are all different and not consistent with the gospel.

There are already so many things in the world that try to bring down the gospel; I want to kick myself every time I add to it. Yes we're going to screw up. Thank God for grace, but let's not get crazy and allow our struggles to be an excuse to keep sinning. That's the kind of stuff that leaves people questioning and wondering if what we believe as Christians is true. It leaves them wondering what the real representation of Christianity is. We can't resemble the book shelves where you can find a schmorgasboard of Christian beliefs. Together we need to resemble one truth and live out the gospel every single day. And not just live it, but do it effectively so it's louder than what the world says about Christ. We have to become the real bestsellers.
