The Well is a church that is committed to connecting with the unchurched community of Tallahassee. It is the desire of the Well to create an atmosphere that is engaging to this generation in the twenty-first century. While the culture of Tallahassee is always changing, we believe that the message of Jesus Christ is as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago. The Well is a church that will speak an everlasting truth in an ever-changing culture.

"For the single most important institution shaping Western culture
is the university. It is at the university that our future political
leaders, our journalists, our teachers, our business executives, our
lawyers, our artists, will be trained. It is at the university that
they will formulate or, more likely, simply absorb the worldview that
will shape their lives. And since these are the opinion-makers and
leaders who shape our culture, our worldview that they imbibe at the
university will be the one that shapes our culture. If the Christian
worldview can be restored to a place of prominence and respect at the
university, it will have a leavening effect throughout society. If we
change the university, we change our culture through those who shape
culture." (Moreland & Craig)

WELL SAID
"Being Human" by Tom Inserra
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving has just passed and the Christmas season is
once again with us. This will be the Inserra's 18th Christmas in Tallahassee.
We made the big move from South Florida to North Florida
because my wife (Marcia) and I felt the Lord's presence in the decision.
At the time, we had 3 little children. Dean was entering 4th grade,
Todd 1st grade and Sally kindergarten. It would have been easy to stay, but
after many months of weighing the options, the Lord made it so clear to us. After
many prayers, our house sold and I got a job as the assistant principal at a
brand new middle school in Tallahassee:
Deerlake. Everything was put in place for the move so we got out of our comfort
zone and left the tropics for the sweet tea. We left family and friends and our
hometown for a new adventure. To say the least, we were scared but we had a
comfort level that we knew came from Our Lord and Savior. I knew I had to quit
being so human and selfish and had to rely on the will of The Lord. As the head of the household,
I had to step up and lead by example with The Lord as my guide--He receives the
total credit. I simply followed his commands and I tried not to let Him down.
As 2008 winds down, I look at all that is currently happening in our
lives and in Tallahassee.
When The Well started to organize and initial services were held in Marcia and I's living room, I never
dreamed the Well would be what it is today. There I went...being a human again. How could
The Well not be successful? The Well consistently speaks from the Word of God:
The Bible. It seems strange that this concept is so out of the comfort zone for
many of us. But I think we are all starting to get "it" which does not make
Satin very happy. Don't you just love it!
Our three little children are now all college graduates and in their
twenties. Marcia and I just celebrated our 29th Wedding Anniversary.
Dean is the Pastor of The Well, married to a beautiful young lady inside and
out (Krissie) and as most of you know they are the proud parents to our grandson,
Tommy. I told Dean all through high school and most of his college years that
he had not met the girl he would marry quite yet. I knew Krissie would come into
his life and she did! Todd, our middle child, graduated with a Fire Science
Degree and is currently working on a degree from Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary. I guess we breed them! Our baby, Sally, our only
Seminole, is not in kindergarten any more. She is now the beautiful bride of
Bennett Acuff. I have my third son with Bennett. I always loved the TV show
"My Three Sons". I am showing my age! I can not leave out my truly
"better half," Marcia. After 29 years, I am still thankful that she
is my wife.
Yes, the Thanksgiving and Christmas Seasons are here. Marcia and I are
so thankful for being able to serve The Lord in so many ways. He has blessed us
with our move to Tallahassee
and being able to be a part of starting a Jesus centered Church in our "new" hometown. I know The Well will continue to glorify The Name of The Lord.
(Tom Inserra, a former principal, now works for the Department of Education. He is husband to Marcia, an elementary school teacher, and proud father to Dean, Todd, and Sally (and Krissie and Bennett and Tommy, too!)
