WELL SAID
"Quarter-Life" by Heather Stuyverson
I'm 25 years old and trying to find my place in this world. Some call it the quarter-life crisis. I continually find myself in this crisis of "what am I doing with my life?" I have become a person that no longer dreams because of my fear of failure. This has to do with a series of events that has happened to me since graduating college. However, God is slowly healing me from that fear of failing.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
This is my favorite verse in the Bible but I so often forget it in my daily walk. How would my life look like if I truly took God's word and believed it? I mean really BELIEVED it! We call ourselves "believers" but do you and I truly believe? Sure we believe that God exists and that Jesus Christ is our Savior, but do we truly believe that God is capable of doing powerful things in our own lives and in the lives of those around us?
I have been so convicted of this lately. I will confess to you that I truly don't "believe" that God can do powerful things in my life or that He has the best for me. I fall under the guilt of my sins and my failures way too often. This is exactly where the enemy wants you and me to be. If I continue to live in this deceptive mindset I am frozen to what I can do for God's kingdom. I become anxious and stressed because I feel as though I am in an endless cycle that keeps landing me in the same spot over and over again.
As believers we have to continually remain in God's word daily. If we don't we will be tossed in the deadly waves of our own earthly understanding. With God's love He will calm all of our fears and He will rejoice over us with great gladness. He will exalt over us by singing a happy song.
For the Lord your God has arrived to live among you. He is a mighty savior. He will rejoice over you with great gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will exult over you by singing a happy song. (Zephaniah 3:17)
So let us not forget to encourage one another in our faith and belief in God's almighty power. Let us by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God to save us from our earthly fears. Let His peace, which transcends all of our understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus today as you and I live for Him.
