WELL SAID
"Have You Forgotten?" by Krissie Inserra

Okay, so I'm not the biggest fan of the country music song with this same title. Mainly because they tried to rhyme the word "forgotten" with "Bin Laden". Seriously?!? Only in country music! However, the idea of remembering our past, whether struggles or triumphs, is one practice that we should never stop doing.
I'm reading through the Bible in a year. Actually it's turning into more like 2 years, but I'm getting there! Right now I'm skipping around in some of the Psalms and it's amazing to me how many times the psalmist reminds himself of the miraculous rescue of the Israelites from Egypt. For example: "He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap." (Psalm 78:13). If you continue reading that Psalm and many, many others, they simply remind us of God and his goodness and faithfulness in the past generations. Scripture tells us time and again to remember God's faithfulness in the past, and to anticipate it in the future. In the middle of the book of Lamentations, the author remembers where his hope comes from in the midst of destruction. "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." (Lam. 3:22-23).
In my own life I personally find myself continuing to praise God for the health of Tommy. But I'm so self-conscious whenever I talk about it because I feel like everyone's heard his story before and I don't want to bore them with it. However, now I've been reminded that it's good to praise God continually for his miracles even when it seems repetitive.
And when I think about the Well and how far we've come in just over a year, I have to praise God because our growth in the past year can only be explained by His hand blessing us. And it is such an amazing thing to hear the stories from individual people about how their lives have been impacted by this church. Or really, by God using this church.
So what about you? What has God done in your life lately? Are you continuing to remember his mercy and faithfulness towards you? As you do, don't forget to share those things with others. I promise we don't get tired of hearing them!
(Krissie is wife to Dean, mom to Tommy, piano teacher to many and leader of the tewntysomething ladies community group.)
