WELL SAID
"One and certainly not done!" by Dean Inserra
This Sunday we celebrate our one year anniversary as a Church. This is going to
be a very special evening for us at Godby High School. I am reminded of the
words that Scott and Rachel have led us in many times: "greater things are
yet to come and greater things are still to be done in this city." I
honestly believe that with all of my heart. If I didn't, I would have never
stepped into the crazy world that is
starting a Church. You wouldn't have either.
But you ARE here.
You are here because you were tired of same old, same old.
You are here because you wanted a place to bring your unchurched friend you
deeply care about.
You are here because you finally weren't judged.
You are here because you didn't have to wear a mask.
You are here because you wanted to rock!
You are here because you wanted to be pushed.
You are here because you believe that Church is not a building or a place.
You are here because you wanted to be part of something special.
You are here because you believe in taking an everlasting truth to an ever-changing
culture.
Personally, I thank God for all of you and it is time for us to move forward in
reaching our city with the Gospel.
Here is what I heard (2nd hand...of course) when we first started:
-The Pastor is too young and will fall flat on his face
-You cannot start a Church with so many young people
-Church at night is too weird and the culture of Tallahassee will not accept it
-It is just a fad
-It will die in 5 years
Little did people know that God was calling us to do the things nobody else in
town was doing, so we could reach the people nobody else was reaching. The Lord
brought mature adults into the Well that wanted to be part of a movement. Meeting
at night has provided a place for folks who refused to get up early on Sunday
morning and were therefore unchurched. The young people have provided an energy
level that has gotten adults excited and on board for the mission. Families are
walking in the door. Young adults are connecting in small groups. College
campuses are viewed as mission fields.
Anything will be a fad or die...if God's hand is not upon it. We will beg God
to allow us to continue.
We will not compromise truth.
We will not compromise our vision.
As I look back on the past year, I stand amazed. The amazement is because I
have seen the Lord work in ways I had too little of faith to imagine.
-We are seeing people come to Christ
-We are paying bills (need some more help in that department!)
-We are seeing our team of volunteers grow
-We are growing our staff
-We are seeing people "get it"
We are beginning our second year as a Church. Wow.
I encourage everyone reading this to be at the Well this Sunday evening at
5:30pm. It will be a special night as we celebrate where God has taken us, and
where we are headed.
To God Be The Glory!
