United Way will host its first annual dance contest similar to the television dance competition "So You Think You Can Dance." Auditions for the event will take place on Saturday, May 28 starting at 9am at Marion Technical Institute (MTI) located at 1614 SE Fort King Street in Ocala. Selected teams will compete in the final round on Saturday, June 4 at 6pm at MTI.
There is no age limit and all styles of dance are accepted.
Team registration is $25 per person or pair and $50 for groups with 3-10 dancers and $75 for groups with 11 or more dancers.
Marion County's Favorite Dancer will be featured in Ocala Style!
Registration forms and competition rules can be downloaded here or can be picked up at United Way located at 1401 NE 2nd St., Ocala. Proceeds benefit United Way's work in health and wellness.

CenturyLink Charity Golf Tournament  | |
CenturyLink will host a four person Best Ball Scramble format golf tournament on Saturday, May 21, 2011. All proceeds from the event will be donated to United Way of Marion County.
The tournament will be held at Eagle Ridge Golf Club, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The cost is $220 per team. ($55 per golfer) Deadline to register is May 11th, 2011.
Entry fee includes golf, cart, lunch, and grab bags. Contests include: longest drive and closest to the pin.
Hole sponsorships are available for $125 without a team or $100 with a team.

On Saturday, May 14 letter carriers throughout Marion County as well as more than 10,000 cities and towns throughout the country will pick up much more than the mail along their postal routes; they will also collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers during the 19th annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) National Food Drive to "Stamp Out Hunger."

Volunteer reading, tutoring or mentoring one hour each week can change the life of a young person.

Training will be provided throughout the summer.
