Greetings!

This week we'll see lots of delicious salad greens at the Dacula Farmer's Market.  The heat has been rough on lettuces, but with shade and lots of water, they are beautiful.

Saturday evening, you will definitely want to come back to Rancho Alegre for a free screening of Food Matters. The movie begins at 7PM.  At 6PM everyone is welcome to bring a covered dish as well as a $2 donation per person to cover set up and drink costs.  I think I'll bring one of my pastured pork roasts to share-don't tell anybody! :)

Don't forget to place your produce box orders today.See below

You can find all the veggies for a delectable salad at the Dacula Farmer's Market this week as well as delicious desserts, breakfast foods, and raw goat's milk.  Come on out and shop with us!

Fresh wishes,

Jamie Oliver Food Revolution
Chef Jamie Oliver Tries to Revolutionize America's Food

"I believe that every child in America has the right to fresh, nutritious school meals and that every family deserves real, honest, wholesome food," says English chef Jamie Oliver.  Jamie Oliver began a campaign on this premise that many Americans first heard about two weeks ago when his "Food Revolution" premiered on ABC during Friday "primetime."  Oliver aims to convince Americans to take control of their health and combat obesity by cooking with and eating fresh ingredients.  His "Food Revolution" is set in the Huntington, West Virginia, which was named the "unhealthiest city in the U.S." by the Associated Press after the Center for Disease Control's report in 2008.

In the show, Jamie travels to Huntington to change the minds and diets of community members of all ages.  He begins by working with the food service employees in the local public schools where he is sickened by the overabundance of processed and unquestionably unhealthy offerings.  At Huntington Elementary, he is met by fierce resistance from the head cafeteria worker named Alice who claims that they don't have enough time or help to change over to Jamie's fresher recipes.  Fortunately, change comes a bit easier at Huntington High, where he recruits passionate teenagers to combat obesity by cooking healthier cafeteria options.  These teens don't quite know what they're getting themselves into, but their idealism drives them forward as Jamie pushes them to cook an extravagant five-course meal and share their personal story before local politicians, media members, and their families. Read more...

Jamie Oliver's Greek Salad

Ingredients:
· 1 medium ripe tomato
· 200g ripe cherry tomatoes
· 1 beef tomato
· 1 medium red onion, peeled
· 1 cucumber
· 1 green pepper
· a handful of fresh dill
· a handful of fresh mint leaves
· a large handful of black
olives, stoned
· sea salt
· 1 tablespoon red
wine vinegar
· 3 tablespoons good-quality
Greek extra virgin olive oil
· 200g block of feta cheese
· 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Hopefully, this recipe will help you achieve the big bold authentic flavors that a greek salad is known for. The trick is to pay attention to the small details that make it so wonderful: things like finding the ripest tomatoes, good Greek olive oil, beautiful olives, creamy feta, and lovely herbs. Read more of this recipe.
