Thank you to everyone for supporting our local farmers,
artists, and new organic co-op. We had a wonderful response to our first delivery of produce, and appreciate all of our friends who helped launch our first order.  The date of our next order will be Tuesday, January 5th, to be picked up January 9th, so please call Cindy at (678) 697-9161 with any questions or to place your order.  We will also have local milk on the 9th from  Johnson's Family Farm . This week we will be here from 10:00am to 2:00pm (rain or shine) with all our local vendors providing you with the best local produce, pastured meat, eggs from happy hens, milk from pampered goats, and charming handmade items and crafts.   We have a new vendor next week -  White Tail Farm , a family farm that produces beautiful Certified Naturally Grown produce as well as free range fresh eggs and goats.

Check out our list of our marvelous vendors attending this Saturday, who are committed to promoting a holistic, sustainable, and nutritious lifestyle. We hope to see you on Market Day!

Sincerely,

Pilar Quintero

Co-op Spotlight - Bosc Pear

I had quite a few pears left over from our box a couple of weeks ago, and found this easy pear cobbler recipe for fresh pears with butter and cake-like batter. It didn't last long in our house!

Ingredients:
2 to 2 1/2 cups sliced fresh pears
2 cups sugar, divided
4 ounces butter
3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1 egg

Preparation:
Mix pears with 1 cup sugar and let stand. Put butter in 2-quart casserole and place in 325° oven until melted. Combine all dry ingredients, including the remaining 1 cup of sugar. Mix well. Whisk together the milk and egg; slowly combine with dry ingredients to make a batter. Pour over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon pears over the batter. Do not stir. Bake at 325° for 50 to 60 minutes, or until nicely browned and pears are tender.
Serve hot or cold with ice cream or whipped cream.

Thank you all for your support and have a healthy and happy 2010!
