Gordon's been busy fixing a few bugs and writing some enhancements for the Alpha 9500.  They're available on our website at UPDATES under the DOWNLOAD tab at the top of the main page.  There's also an Errata listed telling of all the enhancements.

New Certification for both the 8410 and 9500

This means we can sell both amplifiers all over the world through a growing dealer network!

See a list of our growing list of dealers world wide on the front page of our Website:
Alpha Website

Each of these companies will not only offer sales, but also SERVICE to our customers.

That means that your 4 year warranty on the amplifier means even more as warranty service will no longer mean a trip across the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean.
New lower prices on our world famous Wattmeters

Effective with orders placed today the 4510 is $745 and 4520 is $795. That is a saving of $200 for each. We are taking orders now at these lower prices. Check the website for the price protection we've put in place.
Product availability are listed on the front page of the website, as is turnaround times for our repair department.

And, as always, the most up to date information on the happenings at the company are listed there too.  Check it out at:

2011 was the best year Alpha has ever had.  Sales were up 64%
year over year, and it would have been higher if we could have anticipated the demand for 9500's through our Trade-in, Trade-up program and shipped that backlog.  We're building more amplifiers than ever before.  We should have our backlog cleared in the next 6 to 8 weeks. Right now, for new 9500 orders we're quoting 6 to 8 weeks ARO - less for the 8410 and 8406.  If you'd like one of these fine amps, get your order in the system now for delivery in March.

I've been spending my time on the Alpha 4040 Autotuner and we've made some great progress.  We're taking pictures and I'll write an article explaining the process when we're done.  The first day we listed it on our website we sold over 60 of these, and we've taken orders for more just about every day. If you want to get one before Dayton, you should put your order in the system.  We're taking orders with no deposit necessary, so get on that list!

We've been at this since September 2009, and it's been a great time.  Wait to see what 2012 will bring!  Over the last couple years, I've met some of the nicest hams.  It's a wonderful hobby, isn't it?

Letter from the Vice President of Sales, Molly Hardman, WØMOM

It's very exciting to be with Alpha Amplifiers right now.  We had a tremendous response to our trade-in sale back in October and we're very busy catching up with all of the orders.

Looking back on this past year, we've had a terrific 2011 with more product shipped and more new customers added than at any time in the past.

We've hired a new person in the office.  I'd like you all to meet Patricia Karich, who joined Pam and me in the office at the beginning of December.  She will usually be the first person on the phone when you call, and over the next few months she will be taking over more responsibility for parts shipments and issuing RA's for repair amplifiers.

It's time to look ahead at 2012 and put forth our travel plans.  I hope to see many of you in Orlando in February - it is impressive to me to see how quickly this show has grown over the last few years.  I particularly enjoy meeting so many South and Central American hams as well as those from the Caribbean at this event.  After that, I will be taking a personal trip to Southern Africa in late March to wish ZS5YO a Happy 90th Birthday and then it will be on to Visalia, Dayton etc.

Have a wonderful 2012 and thank you for your continued support.

Letter from the Vice President of Engineering,

Gordon Hardman, WØRUN

This month, one of my responsibilities was to get the CE certifications complete. As part of the process to certify the 8410 and 9500 for CE-mark conformity, there are a number of tests that must be performed to satisfy both the safety and electromagnetic compatibility of the equipment. Of these, probably the most brutal is the conducted surge test. This test is performed to assure that the equipment is safe to use, and will not fail catastrophically in the presence of realistic real-world surges. I thought it might be interesting to see how such a test is conducted on an Alpha amplifier.

Instead of posting the article here, I've put it up on the website.  Download the article on Surge Testing

Meet Brad Focken, KØHM

Many of you have spoken on the phone or via email with one of our engineers, Brad Focken, KØHM. Brad is a key staff member at RF Concepts and provides leadership and mentoring to the other members of the tech team. He is the go-to guy when there is a repair amplifier on site that no one can diagnose: Brad will figure it out. In addition to tech support and tuning up new amps, Brad designs board layouts for upgrades and new products and assists Gordon with the activities around certification of our products for use in Europe.   He's a busy guy. Brad has a long history with our products and a keen understanding of how they operate.  We're always impressed with his ability to listen to the symptoms that an amp is exhibiting and determine the course of action to get it back on the air.  He's one of our Rock Stars here at Alpha.
