Committee Reports
Lake Committee by Jim Feltzer

I am pleased to announce that Doubletree resident Annette Williamson will fill the position of assistant chairman for the Lake Committee. She will also take minutes at our meetings.  Annette is one of the original members of the Lake Committee and is a strong supporter of our community.

We are planning to procure boat safety brochures for all boat permit holders.  We strongly encourage everyone to read them and keep them somewhere handy for occasional reference.

The committee is currently looking into putting a number of fish cribs into the lake.  These are small structures that provide safe habitat for smaller  fish to use as protection from larger predators.  This will increase the population of the more desirable species.  They will be placed in deep water so as not to interfere with boating activities.

Sunday, May 22nd, from 1-3PM has been set for the kid's fishing tournament.  This has previously been a very popular event and we are looking for a great turnout again this year.  There will be snacks and prizes for participants.

Security Committee by Tom Sperka

The Doubletree Security Committee met last month. The meeting when quite well and we've added more members to our committee.

A majority of the January meeting was spent discussing security patrols. Adding patrols was discussed.

Outside lighting was also discussed. Each resident is required to operate their post light (or in some cases an exterior garage light) from dusk to dawn. It was determined that most residents respect the purpose of this requirement, but a few are not. The committee will ask Security to identify these residents and request they follow this rule of safety.

Although few grievance hearings have been requested, we also discussed the process and procedures for future hearings.

plowSnow Storm of 2011
They are saying the storm we experienced this week made the top 3 of all time for NW Indiana.

Our POA sent out an email blast "Winter Storm Advisory" advising of the forthcoming storm and offering some rules to remember. We're happy to report most everyone complied and snow removal went fairly well. One resident sent and email stating "Thanks! I was pleasantly surprised at how well our streets were plowed this morning. Thanks for the good work". Another wrote "Just want to commend the POA on an outstanding job, well done". Our crews will continue to deliver the same fine service going forward.

Doubletree West residents experienced something much different. The POA office received countless calls this morning from Doubletree West residents. Apparently, the streets of Doubltree West, which are THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TOWN OF WINFIELD did not receive snow removal expected by the community. The POA Board of Directors will discuss this issue at the next Board meeting to see if anything can be done to expedite a quicker response in the future.

Doubletee East Improvement Fund
If you live in Doubletree East you recently received an invoice for $75. The special assessment was proposed and approved in October, 2010. This special assessment will fund an account specifically allocated for future maintenance of Doubletree East infrastructure (roads, curbs, etc.).

The Doubletree Lake Estates development is nearly 15 years old. Roads, pathways, curbs, and sewers all show signs of aging. In an effort to protect our investments and home values, and to preserve the image as a CLASS A community, a special fund was created. Payments are due April 1, 2011.
