Security Committee Report by committee chairperson and resident Thomas Sperka.

Tuesday we held our first Security Committee meeting with representatives from Midwest Security in attendance. Various security topics were discussed. The committee was in agreement that improvements were already evident with the new security service in place. Midwest is currently conducting 24-hour patrols within both Doubletree Lake Estates and Doubletree West. Midwest stressed that even with 24-hour patrols they can't be everywhere at once and cannot stop all unwelcome occurances from happening. But, they can and will do their very best deterring it. Security has improved and we need to give our new security people a chance to do their job. Our security has given out more infraction notices in the last 30 days than issued all of 2009. This is a good thing. It is something that will improve our neighborhood and property values. You are encouraged to contact security with any issues at 947-4440.

Lake Water Testing

Good News! Once again our lake water quality testing has come back favorable. Please continue to treat your lake as our #1 asset.
  • boatAvoid fertilizers with phosphorous as it causes algae to grow.
  • Don't allow soapy water from washing your car to enter the lake through street drains.
  • Keep grass clippings off the road so they don't enter a drain and enter the lake.
  • Pick up after your pets.
Together we can keep Doubletree Lake clean and healthy.
Security Report by Security Supervisor Keith Batton

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my staff. I am Keith Batton and I will be performing the duty of Security Chief for Doubletree. My experience includes over seven years in the private security sector, most of which served in a gated community much like Doubletree. My staff includes Capt. DeBoer (patrol supervisor) and Sergeant Kalis (dispatcher supervisor). Other staff members were selected based on background, education, communication, and experience.

Our directive from the POA was fairly straight forward.. Enforce the covenants, rules, and regulations of Doubletree. In the past four weeks my department has issued over 150 infraction notices. At this time we are mainly issuing warnings unless the infraction is a matter of safety (traffic/boating violations), hazards to resources (silt fencing), or a blatant disregard to POA rules (launch boat without permit, disregarding an issued citation, etc). Our goal is simply to correct violations and make your community a better/safer place to live.

On behalf of myself and staff I would like to thank you for the warm welcome extended to us. If is greatly appreciated.

You are welcome to contact me with your comments or concerns at (219) 947-4440 or keithb_doubletreelake@airbaud.net.
