Lake Committee Report by Resident Lou Rinaldo
You may have heard that Ron Johnson is no longer employed by Doubletree. Fortunately, developer Randy Minas requested that Ron continue to work with the Lake Committee and Ron has graciously agreed to do so. His commitment and contribution to our committee has been invaluable and we are thrilled that he will continue to work with us.
We will be working on replacing one of our committee members who has moved away. We wish to thank Pat Szuba who did a great job of actively participating on the committee and representing the ski boating community of Doubletree. We hope to find a replacement for Pat in the next 30-60 days.
The Lake Committee will host a kids' fishing tournament on May 16th, 2010. As usual the tournament will be open to all Doubltree kids 18 and under including family members of residents. Stay tuned for further details.
As mentioned in prior newsletters, we are considering hosting an adult fishing tournament sometime this spring or early summer. A small entry fee would be required and all funds collected would go to the winners. Please call the Doubletree office to let us know if you are interested in participating.
In response to a number of homeowner suggestions as well as recommendations from the lake committee, the Doubletree POA Board of Directors accepted the following rule changes for 2010.
- The 2010 boating season will begin March 1st thru December 1st. No wake rule will be in effect from March 1st thru March 31st and also from November 1st thru November 30th. This change will allow fishermen to take advantage of the full fishing season.
- Boat owners who register their vessel in 2010 will receive a copy of the Rules & Regulations and will be required to sign stating rules have been received, read, understood, and agreed to. Included will be the Top Ten Rules that will be enforced by lake patrol.
- Address numbers on docks. Each resident will have until April 30th to install house numbers on docks. Those failing to comply will receive a warning citation which will be followed by fines if non compliance continues. The purpose of this rule is to assist emergency personnel to properly identify a precise location in the event of a lake emergency.
- Boat Permits. Residents failing to purchase and display a boat permit prior to launching a boat will be subject to a fine equaling 3 times the cost of a permit. In addition, failure to affix a purchased permit may result in a fine of $200 for motorized vessels and $50 for non-motorized vessels.
- Speeding & Unsafe Practices. First offense - Warning. Second offence - $100. Third offence - $500 and the suspension of boating privileges.
- Failure to observe NO WAKE hours or rules. First offense - Warning. Second offence - $100. Third offence - $250 and suspension of boating privileges.
- Unauthorized Parking of Boats/Trailers. First offense - $50. Second offence - $100. Third offence - $250 and suspension of boating privileges.
