Special Events Committee
by Deborah Laverty (Committee Leader)
Tis the season for fun. The Doubletree Special Events Committee is planning a Winter Holiday Celebration for the entire family from 1-3 pm, December 6 at the clubhouse.
Plans will be firmed up at the 7pm, November 11th committee meeting but tentatively include a photo opportunity to capture a portrait of your family in the midst of a winter or holiday-related theme.
There'll also be crafts and games for kids as well as a cookie exchange for adults wanting to participate.
We've added six new committee members but welcome participation from anyone interested in helping with our events that also include charitable giving during the holidays.
Lake Committee
by Lou Rinaldo (Committee Leader)
As previously reported, the fish fry we planned for November had to be cancelled due to scheduling difficulties. We hope to hold a fundraiser next year as we consider a winter/spring fish fry and a BBQ in coordination with the a spring kids' fishing tournament.
A sign being constructed will be posted near the boat ramp. This sign will be used to post lake related announcements, lake rules, and more.
Also planned is a lake safety warning system to signify when lake conditions are not safe for use by boaters and/or swimmers. Although not finalized the warning system will likely consist of a flag system designating one of four conditions; 1. Lake is open. 2. Lake is open, but no wake. 3. Lake open to boating, but no swimming. 4. Lake closed to boating & swimming. More info will be available soon.
A recommendation was recently suggested to our committee to consider a short Safe Boating class be taken by boat owners beginning next season. The Lake Committee has discussed this and will make a recommendation to the POA once the details have been worked out. The classes would likely be run by the Department of Natural Resources.
Beautification Committee
by Carla Suson (Committee Leader)
A big thank you goes out to everyone who participated in our Bulb Sale and Fall Decoration Sale. Together, these events raised nearly $400 for park improvements.
Next year, when spring comes around several daffodils and tulips will be popping up in some new places. The Beautification Committee planted the leftover bulbs at the entrance of Doubletree West, future location of the Doubletree East Park, and the Doubletree East pump station. The committee will take a short rest, but will soon be back with more events to raise funds for our parks.
As usual , everyone is invited to join our monthly meetings. November's meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 10th @ 6pm.
