Great Turnout for Doubletree Garage Sale
by Deborah Laverty (Special Events Committee)

The rain might have put a slight damper on the turn-out at the end of the community garage sale on June 21, but from the feedback I've gotten the event was pretty successful.
At least 30 families, in both West and East subdivisions took part in the event and the turnout of people looking for bargains that day was fairly steady until it began raining.
Most families also liked the fact that we had the Goodwill truck come in which saved them the hassle of driving unsold stuff somewhere else.
Kudos to fellow committee members, security, my neighbor Jim Jungels for giving the event a free plug in his Times column and to all who took part in making it a great and profitable day.
Doubletree Resident Information Questionnaires
 report
If you are receiving this newsletter chances are you have already completed a Doubletree Resident Information Questionnaire. The Questionnaires are specifically targeted to serve two purposes. Security for one will have access to the information provided so they may be able to contact you when necessary. Secondly, in an effort to conserve paper and ink we will be communicating with the POA via email whenever possible. To date we have over 50% participation from the POA and hope to reach 100%. Please advise you neighbors and watch for the questionnaire in your mailbox.
Doubletree POA Report

As you may have noticed several new stop signs have been installed in both Doubletree West and Doubletree East with more coming. There are too many to list so please watch carefully for these new signs.
Beginning Monday, July 7th, the barcode entrance lane at the main gate will be shutting down at 10 pm and will remain closed throughout the evening until 6 am. A barricade will direct traffic to "check-in" with security personnel. Our intent is to strengthen security and not to inconvenience anyone. Please stop until security allows you to pass.
A few complaints have reached my desk regarding visitors or delivery drivers being allowed entry without security first contacting the resident. We have and will continue to direct Doubletree security personnel to allow entry of a visitor only with permission from the resident. If you are expecting a delivery or visitor, please make sure someone is home and near the phone or have made prior arrangements with the security department.
The 4th of July weekend is soon approaching and we want everyone to have fun and keep safe. Please respect your neighbors and be careful with any fireworks. The key to a safe holiday is supervision and common sense.
Committee Reports

Beautification Committee
by Carla Suson

This month the Beautification Committee discussed a number of issues to increase the overall beauty of Doubletree. Choosing a Yard of the Month proved difficult this month. There were an amazing number of beautiful, well-groomed yards throughout. Our next meeting is scheduled for July 14th @ 6pm and everyone is welcome to come.

The Special Events committee is in the process of planning a Back to School Event for August 16th. The event, which will be held at Picasso's, will include ice cream to cool off kids and adults alike. Other upcoming events include a Halloween Party to get everyone in the mood for the "real" spooky night and something the committee is calling a Winter Holiday Event in December. Again, we'll let you know as events come up so stay tuned for future information. And, as usual, we welcome any ideas from the community since the Special Events Committee is all about having fun.

Most have noticed the newly installed orange buoys in Doubletree Lake. The buoys are intended to mark the middle of the lake for boaters and skiers and recommend by the Department of Natural Resources. When boating remember to travel counter clockwise in accordance with lake rules. Additional buoys will be added to mark non-wake safe zones in the future. Doubletree security will also step up efforts to monitor for unsafe boating practices. The Lake Committee will be meeting in August to discuss a second Kids' Fishing Tournament since the first was so successful. The committee welcomes your input concerning the event or any other lake topics.

New Doubletree East Security Sticker Program

 Begins Soon!!
A new sticker program is being implemented to authorize frequent (non-resident) visitors a convenient entry into Doubletree East without following the normal procedure of contacting residents for approval. Doubletree East residents will be able to purchase these car stickers for their children, parents, fellow car poolers, etc. Stickers will only be sold to registered Doubletree East residents in good standing with the POA. Each sticker will be the responsibility of the resident as well as actions of the person who receives it.

Price: $8 (valid thru December 31, 2008)

Watch www.doubletreelake.net for information.
Security TIP of the Month!!

Always lock your car doors. Whether you are at the mall or parked in your very own driveway its a good idea to keep your valuables safe by locking the doors.  Electronics such as cell phones, Ipods, and GPS units are popular items to the common petty car thief.  An unlocked vehicle makes its effortless for a thief to reach in and conceal an item unnoticed.
