Committee Reports

Beautification Commitee by Carla Suson

The Purdue garden lecture on March 29th went very well with approximately 35 people in attendance. The next big event is a plant swap on May 24th. All Doubletree residents are encouraged to bring any extra plants or bulbs to the Clubhouse parking lot for an exchange with other residents. This event is free and nothing will be sold.

The committee is also working on several other projects. One is to arrange discounts though area garden centers for the residents of Doubletree. This will probably take the form of discount coupons in the monthly newsletter. Further projects include trimming the public areas now that winter is over and encouraging homeowners to create garden areas around utility boxes in their front yards.

Finally, the committee will be reactivating the Yard-of-the-Month award this month. Anyone wishing to nominate a yard may email me at clsuson@gmail.com.

Lake Committee by Lou Rinaldo

A dock has been ordered for the north boat ramp and will be installed soon.

Safe zones have been identified on both ends of the lake. The north side cove and area near the culvert will be zones restricted to "wake free" activities only, such as fishing and swimming. In addition, buoys will be installed to designate direction of travel for skiers.

Skiing hours have been extended to 8pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays this season.

A lake patrol has been added to periodically monitor safe boating practices.

In closing, a fishing class and competition for kids is scheduled for June 1st from 12-4pm.

Security Committee by Chief McCarthy

The Security Committee meets quarterly with June 10th scheduled for the next meeting.

Spring is here and children are outside playing again. Reduce your speed and keep a watchful eye. Our officers will write tickets for exceeding the speed limit in Doubletree.

For those of you with monitored security systems, it is recommended that you contact your security company and add Doubletree Security as first on your contact list. For information contact Doubletree Security anytime @ (219) 947-4440.

FYI. Boat Patrol will begin soon.

I also recommend you complete the contact information request sent out last month. This will give us the necessary contact information if an emergency should arise.

mowLake Maintenance
Please remember to keep fertilizers, grass clippings, and fallen leaves from reaching the lake. All these things can cause years of damage. If you have any questions regarding the lake or to report an act you feel is detrimental to our lake, contact Ron Johnson at (219)945-1331.
